ABOUT BLUE RIDGE BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG CLUB (BRBMDC) MEMBERSHIP
Our goal is to follow the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America (BMDCA) Guiding Principles by providing activities, education, and communication to members/nonmembers, thereby increasing awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the Bernese Mountain Dog.
Anyone with an interest in Bernese Mountain Dogs is welcome to join. You do not need to own a Berner. In fact, if you are considering getting a Berner, joining the club is a good way to learn more about the breed and to become acquainted with local breeders. There are no geographic residence requirements. Although many of our members live in North Carolina, we also have members in other states.
Membership Levels
Associate Memberships (Family, $25, or Individual, $15) are required for the first year (or partial year) of membership. Two sponsors (current BRBMDC members) are required to become an associate or junior member. Upon membership renewal for the following calendar year, applicant will be eligible for Regular Membership.
Associate Memberships are also available for individuals who do not anticipate regular attendance at meetings.
An Associate Member shall be informed of all club meetings and activities, shall receive the Newsletter, may serve on committees, and may participate in all club activities, but may not vote, hold office, sponsor, nominate or second, and is not counted in fulfilling quorum requirements.
Junior Membership is open to persons 10-17 years of age. Junior members cannot vote or hold office. They may serve on committees other than the Nominating Committee. A Junior Member may convert to Regular Membership upon reaching his/her 18th birthday.
Participation
New members are welcome and encouraged to attend events and participate. There are many opportunities throughout the year to assist and volunteer with club events (drafting tests, etc.) and committees.
Outings, activities, and annual meetings are open to all Berner families. New and prospective Berner owners are encouraged to participate and enjoy the camaraderie. Events are listed on the home page, and communication emails are sent to all members.
